A comprehensive catalogue was produced for this exhibition that was intended as an extensive survey of art and artists in St Ives at a time when it was seen by many critics as a creative focus for contemporary art. The exhibition itself was flawed as it gave an overwelming emphasis to the work of Hepworth and Nicolson. However, many of the artists featured were still alive when the exhibition took place and the opening evening was full of conversation and shared anecdotes among the artists who lived through those times.
