Robert Adams (1917-1984)
Robert Adams, sculptor, was born in Northampton and studied (mainly part time)
at Northampton School of Art. He taught at the Central School of Arts and
Crafts, 1949-60. He exhibited widely. His favourite materials being welded
steel, bronze, wood and stone. He also produced some lithographs as an extension
of his sculptural works. He was active in the Constructionism movement. He
visited West Cornwall in the 1950s and started exhibiting in St Ives in 1955,
but never lived in Cornwall permanently.
